A Lavish Love

Sometimes a message is given to a minister that foremost he himself needs to hear. This is not to say that we all cannot be edified by it and I honestly believe that this is the case with this message.

Recently I have been the subject of some rather vicious and nasty diatribes. Not unexpected I might add since it was me who had to deliver the message to some steeped in sin that they were – well steeped in sin!  None the less it is disheartening to see your name dragged through the mud and you begin to wonder the imponderable – WHY?

So I sat looking for solace where I always look for solace and that is in the warm and loving embrace of the Most High G-d.  In the arms of Y’shua.  He in his wondrous wisdom pointed me to a single passage of scripture that say so very much about who we are and what our value is.

1 John 3:1a

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,

Many times a person will express his love for another through the giving of an expensive gift. When words fail us we want to sacrifice something to say “I Love You”  Indeed a lavish gift is many times given by a suitor to win the affection of his intended.  Thinking perhaps a fancy bauble will catch her eye and testify to her of his love.

Oh How our Father must love us to court our affection in such a lavish way and with such a priceless gift.  Indeed many would call the Messiah “The Pearl of Great Price” We understand the value of such a gift when we consider the scripture in Matthew:

  • Mat 13:45-46 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
  •

How much the Most High G-d must love us to woo us and our affections away from our life of sin which we seem to love so very much.  His courting needs to be irresistible to catch our attention from the bright and shiny baubles of the devil.

    1 John 3:1b

that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

Now as a Gentile born believer this EXCITES ME!  Gentile – Goyim – Of the Nations – A Pagan; that by birth we have NO birthright. Not a seed of Abraham we can claim no part of the covenantal promises made to the people of G-d so very long ago.

Outside looking in like an orphan child looking into the window of a wealthy family.  Tables piled high with food and all kinds of good things.  Merriment and song, laughter and smiling faces. So close separated by only a window pane yet a world away – so very very far away.

Then suddenly the first born son, the heir apparent, the greatest among the family comes from within,  out to gather us up from out of the cold into the warmth of the abode. But not just into the house but into the home into the family. IN an instant transformed from homeless waif to a prince of  the kingdom!

We know that a bride becomes part of the bridegrooms family. Not just any part but she goes from stranger to next of kin. The one the husband desires to share his hopes, dreams and innermost secrets with.  The one who suddenly shares in all the wealth that he possesses.  Our bridegroom paid not only the bride price but the brides dowry too!

    1 John 3:1c

The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Surely this becomes the crux of the problem and the rub between the believer and the non believer. We are foreigners and strangers in this world. Not of it but merely sojourners passing through.   The things that the world holds so very dear we consider not at all.  The toys and shiny objects HaSatan has placed in the world are meaningless to us. They hate us for that.

Striving ever forward desiring that clean heart spoken of in Psalm 51 our minds are with the one who loves us the one who has lavished us the one who courts us the Bridegroom.  We are not surprisingly attending to our beloved’s business while the world spins horribly out of control.  Men desire not sound doctrine but rather they create a god that is in their image.  A changing higher power that does the bidding of men.

Our cries for righteousness fall on deaf ears. The agenda of the ungodly cannot ever coincide with the laws and decrees of a Holy and Righteous G-d! Rather than look inward and admit to the crushing sin in their lives they seek to destroy that which brings conviction.  Since they cannot truly crush the source which is the Ruach HaKodesh the will destroy or at least silence the container of the deposit.

It did not work with Eliyahu, it did not work with Yochanan the Imerser and it will not work with any true believer. The psalmist says it best:

    • Psa 34:17-19 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
  • Praise be to the G-d who loves us!
